I really would like to keep this xp pro machine too since it has a bunch of apps that I am afraid will not run under windows 7 and even if they did I am not sure where the downloads are that I got them from. I take out the C drive from the xp machine and put it in with the other sata drives in my new win 7 machine.
My two systems that I am working with do not have floppies. Go do the dual boot and tell it to point to the drive that has the xp pro on it.

I have tried to find Windows XP chipset drivers for my system at Dell but am only able find same drivers that came om my drivers and download CD. Extracted files to floppy, then ran windows XP setup.
The requirement makes it impossible to install a windows dual boot on a laptop.
Ron Harries 25 wouldnt it be an idea to include one on how to slipstream the drivers with the XP ISO.
I am trying to make dual boot with win xp and win7 is preinstalled. Maybe this is all over my head but just dosen t seem like it should be this difficult ecspecially with these exceptional tutorials.

I have looked at the chipset files on my Dell drivers and downloads CD, but I m not sure what files to put on the floppy. they came with a windows7 computer would they work with a windows XP install. My Dell laptop is a Studo 1558, but hardware listed in the 1555 is the same.
Being that it already has sata drivers will it work.
